Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, mezzo-soprano Lisa LaFleur is an alumna of Loyola University New Orleans and Indiana University. In 2015, she made her principal debut with the New Orleans Opera Association as Alisa in Lucia di Lamermoor and returned in 2017 to perform the role of Siebel in Faust. Past operatic credits include title roles in Carmen and La Cenerentola, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Erika in Vanessa, Suzuki and Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Moppet in Britten’s Paul Bunyan. In concert, she has performed the alto solos in Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Handel’s Dixit Dominus, Bach's Magnificat and Cantata No. 4, Vivaldi's Gloria, Durufle's Requiem, Mozart's Requiem, and a fully staged concert of Argento's song-cycle The Diary of Virginia Woolf. Most recently, she was a featured soloist for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert of Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël and excerpts from Handel’s Messiah. Lisa is also the cantor at Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church in downtown New Orleans, singing Sunday morning masses and most weddings in this incredibly beautiful church.
